On Our Way Home

July 22

We got up early to hit the road before 7 am. On our way out we stopped at the Earthroamer factory just north of Denver, CO,. We had seen two more of these expedition vehicles at our various national park stops. That made a total of three of the only 125 on the road. We were very curious. The president and CEO gave us much of his time. After 1 ½ hours of checking them out and getting all the details on the various systems, we dreamed of having one (it would just fit in our driveway). Then we really began our drive home through the flat, dry, hot, and boring plains of eastern Colorado and Kansas.

After 713 uneventful miles we stopped for the night at a Walmart Supercenter in Blue Springs, MO just east of Kansas City, MO.

After another long day of driving 782 miles we stopped at a Walmart Supercenter in Triadelphia, WV.

July 24

We continued our uneventful drive, only remarking how eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia were pretty and green. After the last 284 miles we made it home around lunchtime.

We drove a grand total of 6207 miles since leaving home on June 22. We are very grateful that we had no major issues (besides a flat and a vexing electrical problem), no injuries, and no sickness along the way, only good memories.

As usual, in one way it is good to be home, but mostly we’d rather still be out exploring new places. Time to start planning next year’s trip…….
